A-Team hike at Moreau State Park ~ Sep 14, 2017

Journal entry by Don McMahon

With rain predicted for early afternoon, we picked a local site with multiple bail out points. Although there was drops on the car winshield going over to the meeting point, we decided to go as planned. Four of us, Linda P, Rich M, Bonnie W, and Don M met at the Park entrance parking lot and Rich drove us over to the Spring parking lot where Tom was waiting. First we hiked up the "waterfall" trail to the dam at Lake Bonita. The "falls" were damp rocks at best, and all stream beds including the brook that drains Lake Bonita were totally dry! After walking the north side of Lake Bonita, we rested briefly at the picnic bench nest to the pump house before continuing on. The trail over to the Lake Ann leanto was surprisingly well used. After lunch at the leanto, we continued on, passed the new trail end (a trail that goes from no where to no where!) located about midway between the leanto and the 4 corners. All the time the weather was improving so that by the time we arrived back at the cars, there was actually some sun. So, although quite humid, it was not so bad a day to be in the woods!
