A-Team Canoe on Hudson River at Sherman Island ~ May 18, 2017

Journal entry by Don McMahon

It may have been hot weather on land but there was a cool breeze off the water so it turned out to be a good day for a canoe/kayak trip. Dona, Peter, Jim I, Bob, Tom and Don enjoyed the ambient, including the various light green and grey colors of the early spring leaves. It was an leasurely paddle down stream to the islands and bays area with the current and wind at our backs. The water level of the river was extraordinarily high so one could paddle through where one could never get through ever before. We had lunch at the Irv Boyle memorial rock penninsula - lots of breeze so no bug problem! A few violets were seen near the lunch spot - only flowers of the day! However once back on the water, the stiff breeze made the trip back seem like three times longer that going down stream. Great exercise! Thumbs up for this trip!
