Stony Pond ~ Feb 16, 2012

Journal entry by Lenore and Jack Reber

As predicted, the stormy weather held off long enough for us to complete today's adventure. Ten of us got a taste of snow this winter as we hiked up and down the hills of this 4 mile rt trail. A recent light snowfall covered the forest, delighting us with animal tracks to examine and covering the leaves and twigs on the ground. We enjoyed the sounds of the Pine Siskins and gurgling stream.

We arrived at the pond for lunch and visited a beaver dam and thunder hole before trekking back to the cars. Some of us stopped at Stewart's on the way home, of course. Thanks to Donna Wood, Barbara B., Don, Dave, Peter, Ray, Diane and Kurt for joining us today.
